ΑΡΓΟΣ - Kefalari and Erasinos River
Kefalari is 5km from Argos and is the ideal place for a visit and relaxation, due to the richness of the natural surroundings, and the historical monuments located nearby. Here spring the sources of the historic and picturesque Erasinos River, which crosses and irrigates the rich planes of Argos before disgorging into the Argolic gulf. These springs come from the rocks of Mt Chaon. This is where the historical caves of Kefalari and the cave of Kolokotronis are found, below the historical church of Panaghia Zoodochos Pighi Kefalariotisa, the protector of the springs. Visitors will enjoy the magic of nature; the church whose overhanging rocks are covered with climbing plants and flowers; the cave with its overhanging rock; the square with the century old plane tree. There are also the deep green woods; the children’s play area; the watermills with the old waterwheels; the traditional cafes and the nature centres.
